This market is busy, filled with people, and can be pretty overwhelming. However, there is a large section of boxes goods and prepared foods you can order. If you can get lucky, as for the fluffy scallion pancakes. They have plain and beef filled, but I think plain is better if you can get your hands on it! Nothing fancy, but it’s supposed to be only $2 each, and you can’t beat that for a warm bread.

I was here mainly for the large and really well stocked bakery section.
Gets really busy during lunch hours, so be prepared to stand in line at the cashiers with Chinese uncles pushing you every which way!
The food is really good value for money, and you would do well going here for staples like the giant BBQ pork buns over some local takeaways.
I also really liked their cocktail buns. Definitely check out this place when you’re in the are. Just don’t make my mistakes and grab so much food “as a snack for later” that you spoil your dinner, lmao

Not your traditional supermarket. Market with a large selection of prepared and cooked Chinese dishes for takeout. Does also have a Chinese bakery on-site as well as a meat market and a small stall with vegetables. Quite a good variety of dishes available to go.

My first visit last Saturday was great—the lady working that day was friendly and helpful. However, when I returned today, a different female staff member assisted me, and the service was rude. To make it worse, I was given a roast duck instead of the soy sauce duck I ordered, which I only realized when I got home. If it was unavailable, I would’ve appreciated being informed, but changing my order without asking is unacceptable!

love the place for cooked food section... I visit NYC have to stop by here to buy their beef noodles and fried rice, sticky rice and roast pork lunch box... not just for the surprising fair price but the amazing taste food!!! Beef noodle seem dried without soup but once I got back home, just add a bit water and dumped whole box of beef and noodle in to reheat....! my goodness, the best beef noodle soup I haven't had for a long long time!!! though the beef is tough so i steamed it before dumping into the soup pot, all good except the container was leaking, all soup got on both myself and the cashier!!! still will go back to buy more next time i go to NYC! Everything is so good especially the roast pork rice and now beef noodle is my new fav!

Cheapest and best quality food for your money anywhere in Old Chinatown. A little cultural sensitivity and Chinese goes a LONG way here. Many signs are in China and most are translated into English. Big bargains when you come near closing times. you can get almost any kind of cooked Chinese fare here. Cafeteria style and there is a moderate sized Chinese green grocer, butcher and seafood market all under one roof. A small number of seatless tables are set up for the cafeteria diners. Come here with a Chinese speaking friend for the best experience. Non Chinese who speak Chinese are particularly welcome here as patrons in my experience. It is an excellent introduction to Chinese food culture. An authentic peek into the market culture of Chinatown 30 years ago.

$7.50 rice box with 2 meats, 1 vegetable, and rice (or noodles): filling, hearty, and affordable comfort food—hard to find a better deal than that in Manhattan nowadays. For my lunch, I got white rice, ribs, sweet & sour chicken, and sautéed bokchoy. Saw about 7-8 different meats/fish options that day including a fried fish that looked good!

There’s also fried dumplings, baos, peking duck, roast meats, sushi, to-go dim sum, and chinese pastries in stalls near the rice boxes. There are standing tables near checkout so that you can grab a few bites even if you’re in a rush! It does get crowded on weekends but the workers there are pros so lines will all move very quickly! Just a heads up, there’s a $10 minimum for credit cards.

Bought the steamed fish, it is not fresh and very smelly … instead you can see the blood ( it is so weird in Chinese food ,條清蒸石斑魚骨中間有大部份血喺魚肉中間,非常腥,應該係師傅處理條魚嘅時候切得唔好.)

The vegetables, the beef with the veg , the beef is very smell? 第一次食牛肉有羊肉味道…

Not recommended to buy the cooked food, maybe buy the fresh fish to add on ask them to cook better?
